Woolly Mammoth Tusk - 69"
$23,500.00 USD
This exceptional 69-inch woolly mammoth tusk, recovered in southwestern Siberia, dates to the Late Pleistocene, more than 20,000 years ago.
The tusk displays striking natural colouration, with amber, brown and cream tones extending across the ivory. Its completeness, substantial 29-pound weight and sweeping curvature make it an impressive example of Mammuthus primigenius.
Presented on a custom stained solid-oak stand, the tusk has an elegant sculptural presence. It is particularly well suited to a significant private collection, natural history institution, luxury residence or corporate interior.
All Fossil Realm mammoth tusks are professionally stabilized to support their long-term structural integrity. They should be displayed indoors under stable environmental conditions, ideally at 50–60% relative humidity and 68–78°F (20–26°C).
Fossil mammoth ivory can be distinguished from modern elephant ivory by characteristics including the angle of its Schreger lines. Its sale, import and export remain subject to the laws and regulations of the applicable jurisdictions.
