Invertebrates represent the deepest continuity in the fossil record — forms that predate the dinosaurs by hundreds of millions of years and in some cases persist nearly unchanged into the present. The horseshoe crab visible in Jurassic deposits is recognizably the same animal alive in coastal waters today.

Current inventory includes select Solnhofen specimens and a fine horseshoe crab. More significant invertebrate material — including crinoid assemblages from the Holzmaden Shale pass through the collection periodically and are available by inquiry when not actively listed.
