Ammonites have intrigued and fascinated humanity for thousands of years. Many cultures, from the aboriginals of Australia to the ancient Egyptians, collected and treasured these beautiful fossils. Does it have anything to do with the Fibonacci spiral pattern of ammonites that mirrors the galaxies?

Ammonites belong to the Mollusca Phylum, in a Class known as Cephalopods, head-footed creatures like present day octopus, cuttlefish and squid. A highly successful group, they first appeared back in the Devonian - over 400 million years ago - and went extinct along with the dinosaurs in the Late Cretaceous, 66 million years ago.
