This lively, iridescent mineral is druzy Rainbow pyrite (iron sulphide) from Ulyanovsk, Russia, near the Volga River. This is the only location in the world where this beautiful mineral is found!
A fantastic, larger specimen like this is much less common than than small fragments. Rainbow pyrite comes in a myriad of shimmering colours. This particular piece displays intense gold, magenta, purple, green and a dash of blue. The photo doesn't do it justice!
