This distinctive fossil leaf plate comes from the Fort Union Formation in Glendive, Montana, USA. This special piece radiates a warm desert palette of colours and has a strong sense of three dimensional texture. The specimen dates to the Paleocene Epoch - 66 to 56 million years old. Small identification stickers have been placed by the leaves for convenience. Two leaves (#12) are Hickory (Carya antignorum). The other is wingnut (Pterocarya hispida).
Matrix measures 8 inches x 7.5" x 2" thick. The leaves measure 4.25", 3.25", and 2".
