Here is a beautiful cut and polished septarian nodule slice. A great gift for a mineral lover!
Septarian nodules were formed as clay balls on the ocean floor during the Cretaceous period - 70 million years old. Over time, the balls cracked and were filled with minerals. The yellow centre is calcite, the brown lines are aragonite, and the grey rock is limestone. It was found from southern Utah, USA.
