We are excited to present this rare Eocene fossil gar (Masillosteus janeae) from the Green River Formation, Kemmerer, Wyoming. This extremely well preserved and impressively sized gar measures 37 inches long. At the tail end there are two exceptional examples of more common fish - a Diplomystus and Knightia.
The fish are inset into the natural shale matrix, with minimal restoration. Masillosteus janeae is the rarest gar species from "Fossil Lake" and second scarcest species of fish from this famous locality.
- Gar measures 37 inches; matrix measures 55 x 43 inches.
- The piece is ready to hang flush on a wall.
